What yoga has to do with Valentine's Day?

Valentine's Day and Yoga-Are They Related?

Ever heard of Bhakti Yoga? You may be wondering what yoga has to do with Valentine's Day, but that is what I am going to clarify in this article. The fact remains that Valentine's Day comes only once in a year, and that too, lasts only for one day! Often our wishes remain unfulfilled, and our heart pines for one more moment of love.

With the power of yoga, you can celebrate each and everyday as a day of love instead of being confined to just 14th February! That is the awesome power of Bhakti Yoga!

According to Bhakti Yoga, we must first learn to love ourselves unconditionally, for unless we provide ourselves unconditional love, how could we gift it to others? Only after we have learned to love ourselves can we spread the same love around the world and embrace others in it as well!

As you might have guessed, Bhakti Yoga is not for those who are too selfish to love anyone beyond their soul mate. Believe it or not, love cannot be confined to a single person or object; if your heart is truly full of love, you would spread love and cheer among everyone who comes in contact with you. That is Bhakti Yoga for you!

Many people believe that love is an art which needs to be cultivated and practiced. I don't believe it. You may or may not know the art of love, but that really doesn't matter; what matters is whether your love is coming from the innermost depths of your heart or your head. When love comes from your head rather than heart, it becomes a 'mechanical love' that cannot bring cheer among others!

You can express your love in many ways, be it by exchanging a smile, or shaking hands together, or simply by complimenting each other; you can also express it by forgiving your sworn enemy, involving yourself in social and charitable activities, or even offering justice to someone innocent.

Believe me, when your heart is full of love, you will know it; every cell, every part of your body would be vibrating with the energy of love, so much so that you would find it difficult to confine it to yourself or to your partner! In short, you will become the very embodiment of love and spread happiness and joy in the world!

This year, don't let your love be confined to your bedroom. Spread it around your neighborhood and beyond, and you will find the ultimate spiritual peace everyone wishes for!

Blessing and success to you,

Walter
